Botox injections block certain chemical signals from nerves, mostly signals that cause muscles to contract. The most common use of these injections is to temporarily relax the facial muscles that cause wrinkles in the forehead and around the eyes. Procedure The Botox is administered into the marked areas using a very short super fine needle. Local anaesthetic is not necessary as discomfort is minimal with the technique used but if you are concerned about discomfort ice or topical numbing cream could be used. You might have a few small bumps in the skin at the actual injection site but these will be gone by the time you leave the treatment room.. You might also have some mild bruising which will resolve in 24-48 hours. There is minimal downtime and you can continue with your day or go back to work as normally. Onset Neurotoxins generally take effect in 3-5 days but it is common to not see your full and final results for 7-10 days.
I, personally, always tell my patients to wait a full 2 weeks after their Botox injection. It takes this long because it takes time for the toxin to block off those nerve impulses to the muscles. It is not immediate. Duration In general, Botox lasts 3-4 months. There will certainly be patients in which in lasts longer, in that 4-6 month range, or shorter, in that 2-month range. It is also common for first-timers to notice that it may not last as long initially but may last longer after the second treatment. Everyone has a unique experience and results may vary.
Dermal fillers are injected into your skin to soften lines, folds and wrinkles and to also give volume to areas which have lost their support. Different types of dermal fillers can also be used for facial recontouring to improve facial features and profiles.
What happens during the procedure?
For certain dermal filler procedures topical anaesthetic is first applied and left to numb the skin for 20-30 minutes. A numbing injection can be given to numb the area further although this is rarely required. The dermal filler is then injected into the area required using a very fine needle or blunt ended cannula. Results can be seen immediately after dermal filler treatments and generally last up to 12 months or longer. Dermal fillers can be used to treat different areas of the face, including the lips, chin, jaw, cheeks, nose, and are ideal for dealing with specific issues such as loss of volume, deep lines, tear trough and jowles
Microneedling is an exciting treatment that has very little downtime but visible results. By creating tiny channels through the skin, using miniature , sterilized needles, allowing us to infuse serums and active ingredients more efficiently, this treatment will stimulate collagen production and improve skin texture and tone. Procedure Approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour. Before the procedure, will apply a topical anaesthetic to the treatment area. This will numb the skin during the micro-needling process, which takes approximately 30 minutes.
Benefits
Micro-needling is used to treat a variety of skin conditions that cause depressions in the skin such as acne scarring, surgical scars, other scars, burns, enlarged pores, wrinkles, and stretch marks. People who have melasma (dark patches of skin) and hyperpigmentation (dark spots on the skin) can undergo micro-needling without the risk of worsening pigmentation problems. (Darker skin is susceptible to pigmentation changes as a post-inflammatory response.)
What are the side effects of micro-needling?
There are a few temporary side effects to be aware of with micro-needling. The procedure causes short-term swelling, redness, and skin flaking, which can last for a few days. Most people can return to wearing regular makeup within a day of treatment. Skin will be more sun-sensitive after treatment, so sunscreen is also advised. Micro-needling may worsen active breakouts, so people with active inflammatory acne or oral herpes should not be treated with micro-needling until the lesions have cleared. Those with a history of oral herpes may be prescribed an oral antiviral medication for one week following treatment because the procedure may stimulate a new cold sore. How Often Should You do Micro-needling Treatments? As a general rule of thumb, micro-needling treatment can be safely done about once a month or every 4 to 6 weeks.
